Hello Bloggers!

Hi everyone who reads my blog! If you're still reading this introduction, don't stop yet. See, even though I sort of summed this blog up in the headline, I can't put more in otherwise it screws up the neat little picture of my name.

Here's what the blog's about. Like the title suggests, it's me expressing my opinion on a few matters but just because it says, "Nothing But My Opinion" doesn't mean I accept, "Nothing But My Opinion". If you have any queries or niggles or even simple comments about what I've written, just post 'em in a comment area and I'll reply within a day, so long as you leave your name when you do it and don't hide behind the Anonymous feature like a pussy. If you own a blog, I'll reply to that but if you don't or just don't allow me a link onto your blog, I'll have to reply on mine so check up every now and then for a response on my comment section. Occasionally at times, I'll be on holiday or won't be able to use the blogging service, so if you comment (even though I'm automatically emailed whenever someone does), there's a small chance I might be unable to answer for at least a week, so keep that in mind (the best thing to do in that case is find my latest post which will say when I'll be blogging again).

There may be items on this blog that are incorrect so I suppose it goes without saying that this blog is about 95% opinion and the rest fact. Also, this blog is over 3 years old and I like to think I've become a little bit wiser since writing a lot of the crap on here. Opinions do change over time so some of these posts should be ignored...or deleted, either will do. Just thought I should clear that up!

GH7:ROA DLC - December

I know nobody's reading these, since the only people who care about GH news are only following me on Twitter & I haven't tweeted any of this crap. However, at some point in the near future, I'll probably whack out a load of links to these posts. For now, I'm just sorting all the DLC lists out so I don't have to do it then. If any of you followers are reading this now, I hope you're enjoying it. Also, constructive feedback is appreciated.
Anyway, last month we had a selection of Alternative music and Prog Rock music, with two band packs of Foo Fighters and Jefferson Airplane. This time, it's a Punk 8-pack and a Metal 8-pack with a Christmas single. The Punk pack is same as before, 4 mixed songs and 4 songs by a Punk band. The Metal pack, however, is a bit different. 8 songs by 4 bands, with each band having 2 songs each. There's also a Christmas single but I'll go into song details a bit later. Here they are:

"Disciple" - Slayer, 2001
Metal, Guitar Tier 9/10

"In Dulci Jubilo" - Mike Oldfield, 1975
Pop, Guitar Tier 5/10

So this Punk pack. First thing to address: Pretty weak guitar throughout. That is, unless, you love chordfests with lots of strumming. That's Punk music on Guitar Hero for you, although the rare songs with solos are usually pretty good. Also Bass tends to be fun on most Punk songs so there's that. "New Rose" is quite a typical sounding Punk song of the 70s. Cool riff and popular too. "Ever Fallen In Love" is an RB repeat although this'd be the actual master recording. Similarly, fun riff on guitar but nothing too challenging.
The last two by the Ramones and Blink-182 are very easy on Guitar. Other than a fiddly rhythm on "Josie", they're both simple and are aimed mostly at Bass and Drums...also Vocals if you're into Punk singing/shouting. The band chosen to represent Punk is The Offspring, 90s Punk band that took Punk and made it a little bit more mainstream on American radio (I think). They've had a couple of songs on GH (3 if you include the one in my GH7 setlist) and half of these tracks are RB repeats. "Come Out And Play" is fun on Guitar and "Hammerhead" has many epic riffs that'd be brilliant to play on Guitar Hero after a decent RB chart. Also, going back to this concept, it does have great Bass parts.
"Half-Truism" was used in a GH DS game but not as RB DLC, so it'd be good to have that as full band DLC. As for "I Choose", it was recommended by a GH player on Twitter. One of the few singles by the band that has a solo (and a fun one at that), so I thought it'd be good as DLC...even if the chorus does need to be censored a little. So with the Punk done, we now come to the Metal Christmas Pack. Lots of difficult/challenging Guitar charts here so that should balance out the easier ones in the Punk pack. Also to note that the Metal artists are Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. Basically, it's a Big 4 Track Pack. Merry Christmas!

"Ride The Lightning" and "Damage, Inc" are both bloody tricky on Guitar but also highly requested, even if Metallica did get a whole game. As for the two Megadeth songs, they're also hard but a little bit more fun than the Metallica ones...at least they sound it, since they're not all wrist buggering strumming. They have great solos that don't sound like you'll spend the length of it flailing on the frets. "Madhouse" was used in GH2 so it seems appropriate to bring it in as a Full Band master recording. However, since RB used it as Live DLC, it's possible it might not be available...which'd suck, because the Live recording is pretty rubbish.
Luckily, tracks from "Among The Living" are available so "I Am The Law" is fine. Finally, we end on Slayer. It's unlikely that these'd make the cut for DLC for several reasons. 1) I think Slayer are one of those bands that's "funny" about DLC releases. No exportable Slayer songs and only 1 Slayer DLC track for RB. 2) "Angel Of Death" was meant to be in GH:M but they pulled the track due to violent lyrics. Seems like that won't change, although one of the last DLC songs released did have the word "shit" in it.
3) The lyrics for "Disciple" also seem like they'll offend people, especially if the song is released in the week of Christmas. Not to worry though! If you're not in the mood for insanely difficult songs on every instrument (except maybe Vocals), there's a light-hearted Christmas single for you to enjoy. "In Dulci Jubilo" - Mike Oldfield. No vocals in this one but a cracking Guitar solo and a nice festive sound. So that's the end of that year of DLC. January goes back to normal packs and I'll post those on here at some point in that month. Until then, be seeing you.
