Not really got an excuse for lack of blog posts recently. I've been at work, yes, but not every second of every day. I've had hours sitting at home feeling bored, often staring vacantly at the computer screen trying to think of something to do. Truth is I've been putting this off because I've obviously got no real reason to blog any more. I tweet more than anything else, often posting up to 11 tweets about whatever's on my mind. If I see a film, I'll tweet my thoughts rather than reviewing it. If I have a rant, I might tweet a series of comments about that rather than writing a whole blog post (although I still do that occasionally).
Basically, if you do enjoy my blog posts then it's well worth following me on Twitter. Yes, I do post a lot of Guitar Hero related nonsense but it's only a fraction of the GH/RB info I've got littering this site. Anyway, on with the content. I've started looking back over the last month with these posts now so instead of talking about December, I plan on recapping November. Unfortunately, since it's December 24th, I can't really remember a lot of November...especially not the 5th.
I do recall making an Epic Subway Sandwich filled with Burger King Onion Rings, KFC Popcorn Chicken, McDonalds Fries and Pizza Hut Cheese Bites as well as all the Subway Melt ingredients. Very nice sandwich. I'd definitely consider popping Onion Rings & Popcorn Chicken in again, they were fucking lovely. The Fries made it a bit too stodgy and the Pizza Bites were really just overkill for show. The first two though? Definitely improved the flavour. There are pictures of that on my Twitter account somewhere, through all the different stages of adding the many ingredients.
November had some good TV shows coming to a halt as well, I believe. 'Community' & 'Parks And Rec' were winding down although they went on Christmas/Indefinite Break in early December. The big date for me was probably the last day of November when I went to London to see Deep Purple performing at the O2. Fucking great evening, although the best bit was the warm up band. Cheap Trick. Before I saw them, I wasn't really a fan. I knew their biggest songs and I wasn't impressed by most of them but I did like a few of their singles.
They opened with "Ain't That A Shame" and then went straight into "Hello There". Just as awesome as the rerecorded version used on 'Rock Band 2'. After that, they busted out 'California Man'. Now these last two were the two songs I wanted them to perform so I was already satisfied. However, it honestly only got better as they kept on playing their tunes. "I Want You To Want Me" was really good live and they also played one of their latest singles, "Sick Man Of Europe". Very good as well. I'd say the highlight of their performance was a cover of "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles. Freaking spectacular.
One of the surprising things about the warm up was that they came back for an encore. I'm sure other bands have done this but I think it's the first time I've ever seen a warm up band doing that, even though the warm up band in this case is a popular 70s Rock Band. Eventually Deep Purple came out and whacked out an OK show. They played with a 36-piece orchestra so some of their best songs they played sounded...well, different. I think my favourite song they did was a Bass Solo in the encore, although separate Guitar and Keyboard solos they played were also brilliant.
Other tracks were a bit too long a Prog-Rock themed so I wasn't that fussed by the majority of tracks but it's still awesome to be able to see I've seen Deep Purple, the loudest band in the world (at one point), playing Live at the 02...and on that note, I'm done blogging for the day. I'll probably be on again tomorrow to talk about Christmas. Be seeing you...and Merry Christmas, I guess. That's been said so many times it's kind of lost the special meaning behind it. Probably why I only say "Rest In Peace/RIP" if I knew the person or deeply respected them. Right, yep. Finishing there. Bye.
